Google Snake Menu Mod: Choose the Loader That Matches Where You Play
The Google Snake menu mod is no longer a one-bookmark setup. If you want mods inside Google Search, use the community Mod Loader and choose its install option for the page where you play. If you only want to play a modded version outside Search, the project also provides a standalone web route.
The loader offers three targets: the standalone Google fbx page, common Snake searches, and any Google search page. These options are not interchangeable. The broad “anywhere” script is intended for cases where the other versions do not run. Opera has another wrinkle: its userscript must be enabled on search results pages.
That distinction helps explain why “I installed the script, but nothing appeared” can be a misleading diagnosis. In a Chrome help thread, a player said simple HTML mods had stopped appearing. A maintainer replied that Google had changed the game’s code and that the fix required a new approach. The discussion does not identify a Chrome version, so it supports a compatibility warning, not a claim that one specific browser release caused the problem.
The release history also contains a narrower clue for players using unusual modes. Custom Menu Stuff 2.0 says it works with portal, key, and sokoban after a game update. The note does not name that update’s version, so treat those mode names as release-specific compatibility information, not a promise about every current build.
Check the method before following a walkthrough
Before following an old bookmark tutorial, check whether the project still supports that method. Some guides still instruct readers to import MoreMenu.html, while the project now marks the bookmark method as no longer working. For a Search-page setup, match the loader target to the page first; for the standalone route, use the project’s modded web version instead.
